Snowfall damages Apple orchards in South Kashmir's Tral | KNO

Tral, November 04 (KNO) : Early and untimely snowfall that started from Saturday afternoon in Kashmir valley turned out to be a disaster for farmers as it severely damaged apple orchards in many areas of Tral sub division. KNO received many calls from Tral areas regarding extensive damage caused to apple trees in most of the orchards due to the heavy snowfall that accumulated on leaves and branches of apple trees. One of the fruit growers, Rameez Ahmad, from Tral’s Panner Jageer, told KNO that, the snowfall damaged large number of apple trees in Panner Jageer village as "branches of trees broke down due to the weight of the snow." “Authorities should compensate apple growers for their loss, happened due to yesterday's snowfall," He said. Reports of damage to trees came from other areas of Tral as well including Bhatnoor, Ladibal, Shikargah, Koil, Sangnad and other areas.(KNO)
